The Pacific Crest Trail’s Northern Terminus monument is located on the border of Washington and British Columbia, Canada - approximately 8 miles south of Manning Park Resort and British Columbia Highway 3. It marks the northernmost point of the trail.

The current monument was installed in July 2018.

Starting or ending a hike

The Northern Terminus monument is typically where NOBO hikers end a thru-hike. From the monument, hikers can continue north for a further 8 miles to Manning Park Resort, where there is accommodation, food, a small store and other facilities. Doing so requires hikers to have the proper visas and documentation to enter Canada, including a passport and an approved Canadian Entry Permit.

It is illegal to enter the USA from Canada via the Pacific Crest Trail. For this reason, SOBO hikers typically start a thru-hike by hiking north for 30 miles from Hart's Pass, Washington to the monument. They then turn around and begin hiking south towards Mexico.
