The Pacific Crest Trail Association (PCTA) is the agency that maintains the Pacific Crest Trail. It describes itself as, "an eclectic band of trail junkies who champion the needs of the Pacific Crest Trail." Its stated mission is, "to protect, preserve and promote the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail as a world-class experience for hikers and equestrians, and for all the values provided by wild and scenic lands."
