According to fastestknowntime.com and other sources, as of 2020 the Metacomet-Monadnock Trail north of the MA/NH border, as well as some sections in MA, have been formally abandoned. "The sections [of the MM] that aren't shared [with the New England Trail] are impassable, or no longer legal to cross." Source.
However, there is no mention of the MM being closed or abandoned on either the Wikipedia page or on mmtrailnh.org, so whether or not this is the case is questionable.
